File Format Research

JPEG-
In computing, JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photography. JPEG compression is used in a number of image file formats. JPEG/Exif is the most common image format used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices along with JPEG/JFIF, it is the most common format for storing and transmitting photographic images on the internet

PSD-
The .PSD (Photoshop Document), Photoshop's native format, stores an image with support for most imaging options available in Photoshop. These include layers with masks, color spaces, transparency, text, and lots more. This is in contrast to many other file formats (e.g. .EPS or .GIF) that restrict content to provide streamlined, predictable functionality.

BMP-
The BMP file format, sometimes called bitmap or DIB file format is an image file format used to store bitmap digital images, especially on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Many older graphical user interfaces used bitmaps in their built-in graphics subsystems.

Newspaper Front page

My task was to create my own newspaper front page which also includes writing one story myself which has to involve my animal/human face which i made in one of my previous tasks.
I started off by opening an A4 document in Adobe Indesign, then I used google images to find a headline for the newspaper and smaller adverts.

After i had found a headline and some adverts i used the internet again to find some more stories to go on my front page i found to good stories which were about the right length one about a baby being saved by a sandwich bag and the other one was about a millionaire segway tycoon being killed by crashing a segway.

The printscreen above was taken just after i had got everything i need for the front page in my indesign   

document all i need to do was arrange everything so it fitted in well and looked good also it looks better when everything is in columns and the story headlines are bigger and bold so i done all of that and

This printscreen shows my front page after i have arranged everything and just need to resize and put my last picutre onto the page then it will be complete.

Buster Keaton

My task was to create a newspaper page about buster keaton using indesign c5 which has alot of useful tools on it to help design the page. To begin with i created a frame to produce the page in. then pasted a picture of buster keaton onto the page and used the pen tool to select all around the edge of his body.

 

 this screen print is just after i had selected around his body using the pen tool and i have just placed the image back inside the frame of his body and im now placing it to fit with the outline of his body.

 this print screen was taken just after i had inserted the text and used the text wrap tool so that the text goes around the image.

This screen print was taken just after i had copied the image and deleted the inside image so i just have the outline remaining to insert text into after this all i had to do is add titles and chnage some of the font sizes.

This is the finished newspaper page.

Digital Graphics - Animal Faces

What i did - I started off by taking a picture of my friend and uploading onto the computer then opening it in photoshop. Then i used the internet to find a picture of an animal of my
choice when i had found one i opened that on photoshop as well then i

took features from my friends face and put them onto the animal face.

 

How i did it - I done most of this by using the lasso tool on photoshop and selecting around some of the features of his face and pasting them onto the animal face then scale them up or down to fit and erase bits so they fit in better.

What i thought of my results - I think the end result looked good as the eyes blend in really well and the lips made the photo alot more cartoon like and interesting but i would of liked to try and put more features of the human face on the animal but i didnt feel that any more would fit in that well.
